Show timings and entry
When will timings for my show be available on the website?
We will share timings for your upcoming event on our website as we receive them. We usually have finalised timing about a week out from the event.
If the promoter has released the timings for the support and main act, we will post them. Often this is at the discretion of the promoter, so we may be unable to share the exact set times for some shows.
What time is last entry?
For most events you can enter the arena at any time until the show finishes. Some events may carry a lock out time, and if it does this will be shared in the event timings.
Do you operate pass-outs?
No – you can scan your ticket, leave and re-scan your ticket again. Please note some events may not allow you to leave and return.
Do I need to bring ID with me?
Most of our events are appropriate for all ages, however, if you are attending an event that has age restrictions, you will need to have your ID with you to enter.
We recommend children under the age of 16 are accompanied by a responsible adult, and children 12 and under must attend with a parent, guarding or responsible adult. If you are attending with children 12 or under, you will need to have ID.
You will also need to bring ID if you intend to purchase alcohol.
Can I take my child to an event?
Unless the event is specified as 18+ on the event page, then children can attend.
Most events have a ‘free on the knee’ policy, where children under a certain age can enter for free if they don’t occupy a seat. The venue hirer may stipulate what ages qualify for ‘free on the knee’ and this will be outlined on the event page. The below provides a general guide to ‘free on the knee ages’:
- Sporting events – children four and under are free on the knee
- Concerts and special events – children three and under are free on the knee
- Children’s shows – children under two years old are free on the knee (child must be no older than 23 months)
The free on the knee policy does not apply to general admission standing concert tickets. All persons accessing a general admission standing floor, regardless of age, require a ticket.
Where can I park?
Parking at Melbourne & Olympic Parks is limited and should be booked in advance. The Eastern Car Park is the main public parking area within the precinct, you can find it by heading to Entrance D on Olympic Boulevard – see where it is on a map of the precinct.
Rod Laver Arena is around a five minute walk from the Eastern Car Park. Head west (towards the city) down Olympic Boulevard.
What if I can’t get on site parking?
If Melbourne & Olympic Parks’ parking is sold out, don’t worry - there are other parking options available.
How do I book accessible parking?
Accessible parking is booked through Ticketek on their Accessible Seating Hotline: (03) 9286 1208. We’d recommend booking parking in advance to avoid disappointment.
Reduced mobility guests visiting Rod Laver can be dropped off in the Northern carpark via entrance A (Batman Avenue). Just to let you know, all visitors have 20 minutes to drop off guests to the arena, after which time you may be charged.
How do I cancel my booking?
Log onto the M&OP website and head to the car park booking site. If you’ve registered online, you can log in and cancel. If you’ve not got an online account, click on ‘Manage my booking’ and enter your email and booking number to cancel.
If you no longer need your booking, you need to cancel at least 24 hours before. See our terms and conditions which will walk you through all you need to know about your booking.
Conditions of entry
Can I bring my own food into the arena?
You can – if it’s homemade and in small amounts, you’re good to go.
Can I bring a water bottle into the arena?
You can bring a water bottle in as long as it’s 600ml or under and made from soft plastic – we would advise double checking the event page before coming to the arena as some shows do not allow water bottles at all.
Can I bring my own alcohol into the arena?
No, but for most events we do have alcohol that you can purchase inside our venues.
Can I bring a backpack into the arena?
No, backpacks of any shape or size, including handbags that can be worn as a backpack, are not permitted. All other bags need to be 30x30x30cm or smaller.
If you need a backpack or bigger bag for medical purposes, this is fine, but you will still need to be ready to be searched when entering the venue.
The only exception to this is children’s shows, where backpacks and larger bags are permited. However it must still fit under your seat.

Can I cloak my belongings?
Yes – we offer cloaking free of charge; this includes cloaking for backpacks and prams.
Where possible, we’d recommending leaving anything you don’t need at home, so you can avoid queues at the end of the night.
Please note we cannot cloak oversized items such as suitcases (carry-on size is fine), tents or camping equipment.
Can I bring my pram into the arena?
Unfortunately not, but you will be able to cloak your pram (free of charge) before entering the arena.
Can I bring my camera into the venue?
Small, handheld, personal cameras are fine, including your phone camera. Your camera cannot have a detachable lens.
Check the event page before coming to the venue as some artists request that cameras are banned entirely, or that patrons refrain from taking photos and videos.
Where can I collect my tickets?
You can collect your tickets by heading to the Grand Entrance – you’ll see the ticketing office on the left-hand side of the arena entrance.

How can I get accessible tickets for a show?
Wheelchair bays and accessible seating must be pre-booked through the Melbourne Park Accessible Seating service:
- Reach them by phone on 03 9286 1208;
- Submit a request to be contacted online by clicking this link. The Melbourne Park Accessible Seating team will contact you to finalise the transaction.
If there’s still availability, you can also get your tickets on the day from the accessible ticket window at Rod Laver Arena Forecourt Box Office.
What if I have an accessibility requirement but have booked standard seating?
Please let us know as soon as possible by calling the Melbourne Park Accessible Seating service. If you arrive at an event with an accessibility requirement which was not accounted for at time of booking, our team will do what they can to re-locate you to an appropriate area, however this may not always be possible.
